Thrills galore at the FORMULA 1 ARAMCO GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2024, both on and off the track. Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has put together an exciting programme of activities for all audiences, beginning on Thursday 20 June in the afternoon and ending after the chequered flag falls for the Formula 1 race on Sunday 23 June.
Non-stop entertainment in the Fan Zone
Located in the public area behind the Main Grandstand, the Fan Zone has become a firm favourite among visitors, offering something for everyone. This year’s area will feature eSports simulators, podium and driver selfie recreation areas, wind tunnel simulations and the chance to see a car and championship trophy up close. There will also be virtual pit lane visits, where you can explore an F1 garage via augmented reality, as well as the pit stop challenge, where participants compete to change the tyres of an F1 car in the shortest possible time.
A stage will also be set up in the Fan Forum, where fans can see some of the main protagonists of the event (drivers and team managers) being interviewed on Friday and Saturday, and where the band God Save the Queen will also perform from 5:15 to 6:15 pm on Saturday.
One circuit, a variety of entertainment zones
Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will once again be offering fans the chance to enjoy an array of entertainment options and activities being hosted in numerous spaces set up around the circuit. Both the Green Zone and Kids Zone will be located in the Crater Forest area. The Green Zone will host a range of sustainability and environmentally-focused activities, as well as an artistic installation of mirror cubes. This time round, there will be a visual bonfire designed to raise awareness about fires and the fragility of nature during the summer months. The youngest members of the family will be able to take part in a painting workshop in the Kids Zone based on the recycled car that was built last year, as well as to create new cars out of paper. They will also be able to get temporary tattoos and take part in traditional games made out of wood or recycled materials.
A stage will be set up in the Pelouse Joven area (Turn 4) where you will be able to see artists, such as DJ Coco, Eli Kapowski and DJ Kerito performing in front of a giant screen showing all the action on the track. There will also be a beauty corner where visitors can treat themselves to colourful hair extensions, printed tattoos, lucky charms and nail art.
Summer Fest is this year’s new area, where visitors will be able to find out all about the local Sant Joan Festival, with a typical (but unlit) bonfire and information boards explaining the traditions that take place during this night of celebration in Catalonia, as well as many other games and activities: scalextric track, table football, Speed Game, Racing Emotions mural, etc.
Finally, Dutch DJ Admin Rick Jansen will entertain fans throughout the weekend in the Orange Zone, dedicated to the Dutch fans.
DJ Dolça Van Leeuwen will also take to the stage on Grand Prix Sunday, playing tracks from 12:50 to 1:00 and 1:30 to 2:00 pm ahead of the opening ceremony and anthems.
Also new for this year, the first visitors to arrive at the circuit on Sunday 23 June will be treated to a piece of coca de Sant Joan, a traditional Catalan dessert (while stocks last). Doors open at 6:00 am on Sunday, and early birds will also be able to watch the 2023 Formula 1 race on the screens around the circuit.
Pit Walk and Open Track, two unique experiences
As usual, the Pit Walk will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Thursday 20 June, giving fans access to the pit lane and perhaps even a glimpse of some of the World Championship drivers getting ready to compete. To ensure the smooth running of the activity, participation has been limited by means of free downloadable invitations from the Circuit’s website, which are now sold out. No one without a free invitation will be able to access the Circuit or take part in the activity, despite having a ticket for the GP.
The Open Track will bring the event to a close, during which visitors will have the chance to head out onto the track after the Formula 1 race, which starts at 3:00 pm on Sunday 23 June. This is an incredible opportunity to experience the podium ceremony, with spectators able to walk out onto the Main Straight, as well as any other part of the circuit. Several access points will be made available for this purpose in the public areas.
