The study “Racing towards a sustainable future. A review of the sustainability performance of international racing circuits” by the Italian consultancy firm Right Hub has appointed Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as the circuit with the best sustainability strategy in the world.
These results are released after having analysed 96 circuits all over the world. In this sense, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has achieved this year the first position ahead of Mugello (Italy), which is in second position, and Paul Ricard (France), which closes the podium.
The commitment to sustainability is one of the cornerstones of the transformation of the new Circuit, which has been ISO 14001 certified since 2008 and ISO 20121 certified since 2021. These two certifications are complemented by the FIA Environmental Accreditation certificate (3 stars) in 2015 and the BIOSPHERE seal in 2020. Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya also became this year the first circuit in the world whose activity has its CSR Management System aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals by Bureau Veritas, a leading inspection, certification and testing company.
This autumn, the new Strategic Plan of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will be presented, through which this space will be revitalised, sustainability will be consolidated and technological innovation will be promoted.
