A total of 2,200 kilos of food were donated after the staging of the FORMULA 1 EMIRATES GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2019. Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya collected this amount of food on four days, and donated all of it to El Xiprer, a local social entity that works as a food bank and helps the most disadvantaged people.
Under the motto ‘No Food Waste’, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has been working for years in order to avoid the wasting of food that is usually discarded after not having been used at large events like a world championship race such as the F1 Spanish Grand Prix.
The FORMULA 1 EMIRATES GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2019 has carried out other initiatives to continue with the campaign, such as the boards located in different places of the facilities in order to raise awareness among the attendants about the wasting of food, as well as to create a conscience.
The donation of food is not something exceptional at the circuit, as it is carried out on a constant basis throughout the year. The Circuit is an institution that is committed to the environment. Good proof of it is the fact that it is certified according to ISO 14001 since 2008 and that in March, after the Formula One Test Days, the racetrack was already able to donate more than 1,000 kilos of food. The Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya de MotoGP, to be staged in less than one month, will continue with this initiative.
