Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will be once again host to the complete preseason of the F1® World Championship that will be starting its engines next Monday, 26 February. The F1 Test Days will be distributed into two weeks, which four test days each. The first, from 26 February to 1 March, and the second from 6 to 9 March. The premier class in motor sports will place the Circuit in the world’s focus of attention, as it will be an exclusive reveal of all novelties that the World Championship has prepared for the 2018 season.
On Monday 26, all eyes will be on Force India and Toro Rosso that will be presenting their vehicles at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, from 8:00 am, one hour before the start of the track activity. Toro Rosso has additional novelties, such as one of their drivers, Brendon Hartley, who will be racing his first season in the premier class as official driver. The local representatives will also be there: Fernando Alonso (McLaren) and Carlos Sainz (Renault Sport F1 Team), who will be using the same engines this year, i.e. those of the French make.
The remaining eight teams will also be attending the tests on the Catalan track with their homework done: regulation changes implemented, new line-ups, new single-seaters… There will be a few new faces around the paddock of the Circuit: Sergey Sirotkin (Williams Martini Racing) or Charles Leclerc (Alfa Romeo Sauber F1). The fast machines have had a noteworthy implementation at first sight, the halo, a safety element that surrounds the head of the driver, protecting him from any impact and that has changes the look of the single-seaters a lot.
The official tyre supplier, Pirelli, has created new compounds for this year. There are two additional soft-rubber classes that, together with the new asphalt of the Circuit, will lead to an improvement of the times clocked during the tests. This is only another reason why it is worth attending the F1 Test Days, a true show that is worth witnessing first hand, before the rest of the world.
