Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is promoting sustainable mobility for another year to attend the FORMULA 1 EMIRATES GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2019, with a variety of actions, such as encouraging the use of public transport, which is the easiest, most comfortable and sustainable way to get to the Circuit. All those attending the F1 Grand Prix have specially scheduled public transport services available, thanks to the reinforcement of the RENFE Commuter Train service (Cercanías) and to the special services offered by Sagalés to get to the Circuit by bus.
By train
Renfe reinforces the services of Line R2 North of the commuter train service Cercanías de Catalunya with 50,000 additional seats. There will be a special programming for 11 and 12 May that provides for a travel frequency of every 15 minutes for the Montmeló – Barcelona connection at those times at which a larger number of travellers between these two stations is expected.
In order to make mobility easier for all fans, Renfe has reinforced their service scheduling 46 special trains in addition to the usual offer of Line R2 North (Airport – Barcelona – Montmeló – Maçanet). This service increase for the Grand Prix will be added to Renfe’s standard offer for Montmeló on weekends (74 daily trains, 37 in each direction, totalling 81,400 daily seats).
Moreover, travellers arriving by long distance AVE trains at the Sants train station will have connections to Montmeló with Line R2, the price of which will be included in their ticket.
In order to provide for an easier and quicker ticket purchase, Renfe has programmed the ticket vending machines so that the first ticket to appear on the screen will be a return ticket to Montmeló, the town located next to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Travellers wishing more detailed information can call +34 900 41 00 41, or check the Cercanías App or the website rodaliescatalunya.cat.
By bus
Autocares Sagalés offer their services to attend the Grand Prix. The buses will be departing from the Barcelona city centre at the Bus Station North (c/ Ali Bei, 80), platforms 25, 26 and 27. This location allows for an easy connection with the metro and the RENFE Commuter Train services (Cercanías), as the Station is located next to Arc de Triomf. The tickets cost 15 Euros and are booked at Sagalés (tel. 902 13 00 14 / www.sagales.com).
This year Sagalés makes another step forward to minimise the impact on the environment during the Grand Prix: 25% of the service will be carried out with sustainable buses. The route to and from Barcelona will be made with Euro6 and Euro5 buses, which are less polluting, while the transfers from the Montmeló station to the Circuit will be made with hybrid buses. Thus they are joining the commitment to sustainability that Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya took on many years ago with the ISO 14001 certification.
On Saturday and Sunday there will be additionally 3 sustainable (Euro 6) minibuses that will be offering a shuttle service with stops at the Accreditation Centre and all of the gates, except for Gate 5.
Other options
Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya recommends optimising the use of private transport to attend the Grand Prix, making the best use of the available seats.
Sustainable mobility inside the Circuit as well
The Red Cross and the Circuit are offering again the transport service inside the Circuit for people with a reduced mobility, in order to make a safe access to the facilities easier. The service is offered with electric vehicles and always accompanied by volunteers.
