This afternoon, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya organised, together with Toro Rosso driver Carlos Sainz, a charity tour within the framework of the Formula One Test Days. The activity managed to raise 2,200 euros which are going completely to Wings for Life, a non-profit organisation that raises funds for research work on spinal cord injury .
A group made up of 22 people was able to enjoy the experience of making a tour around usually restricted spaces, the Paddock, a lap around the service tracks, and attending a speech about Formula 1 by the Catalan journalist Josep Lluís Merlos, who shared with all those attending, the feeling of journalists as regards the results seen during these test days and talked about the Circuit as a “historic and unique facility”.
However, the highlight of the activity was the Meet&Greet with the driver Carlos Sainz. The attendants took the chance to ask him questions and for autographs. Sainz also talked about his feelings after almost two weeks testing and showed himself convinced that this year the championship is going to be very entertaining. “Driving these new cars is a delight both for the drivers and the fans”. He also stressed his intention of fighting during the World Championship season in order to become the best team, despite the huge competition against the other teams.
Before the Meet&Greet with Sainz, Circuit President Vicenç Aguilera, General Manager Joan Fontserè and the Toro Rosso driver had a picture taken with the cheque showing the 2,200 that Wings for Life is going to receive.
