Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya closes another season at full performance, which was enjoyed by thousands of people, as shown by the final figures. Before closing the sports year, the Catalan racetrack has made review of the year and revealed the 2020 sports calendar, with significant novelties.
87% occupation
The Circuit closes the 2019 season with an occupation figure of 87%, and a total of 317 days of activity. The total figure can be distributed into 250 of rental days and 67 race days. 24 days were used to perform works and maintenance tasks, and there have only been 24 days without any type of activity. After 12 intense months, the Catalan track has offered its facilities for multiple experiences, such as private and collective tests (of car, motorcycle and bicycle competitions), incentive and training days, driving courses, filmings, launches, events, educational tours and many other activities.
576,891 spectators
Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has opened its gates to a total of 576,891 attendants in 2019, meaning an increase by 3% compared to the previous season (558,404). The event that recorded the highest number of spectators was, once again, the FORMULA 1 EMIRATES GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2019, with a total of 160,428 attendants along the four days of the event. 87,511 people came out to watch the Grand Prix on Sunday. The Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya de MotoGP™, is next on the list, with a total of 157,827 attendants along the three days; 91,734 on Sunday alone.
10,273,978 € of economic impact in printed written press
The interest generated by the activities staged at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya continues to grow. According to data provided by Rebold (before Acceso Group), the Circuit has achieved an impact in written press of 10,273,978 €. This figure is the highest recorded figure in recent years and means an increase by almost two million compared to 2018 (8,127,087 €). The pieces of news published about topics dealing with the Circuit and its activities have increased as well, with a total of 2,033 published news.
19 sports events for 2020
The calendar for the 2020 season is more interesting and complete than ever before. With a total of 19 sports events, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has included a great novelty. The Superbike World Championship, will be staging the Catalunya WorldSBK Round at the Circuit on 18 to 20 September. Another novelty in the calendar is the Ultimate Cup, which will be opening its second season in Barcelona. After a one-year absence, the Ferrari Challenge will be back at the Circuit, this time with a night race in July. Moreover, the Circuit will, once again, be host to the complete Formula 1 pre-season, with six test days under the name of Formula 1 Pre-Season Testing.
