Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has been recognised once again for its commitment to sustainable development. In the same direction, the Catalan sports facility has taken a step forward and has been certified with the ISO 20121: 2013 standard, which certifies the sustainable management of events.
The Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya de MotoGP ™, an event that has been audited to obtain this distinction, has been characterized by the return of the public on a large scale, coinciding with the motto of the current edition of the KISS programme (Keep It Shiny and Sustainable) of the FIM Ride Green: “2021, The Year of the People”.
In addition to caring for people and their well-being, offering the maximum safety conditions for those attending, the Catalan facilities continue with their particular mission “Driving for a Better Future”. To obtain the standard, many other actions that the Circuit has carried out have been taken into account, which demonstrate its 3C management in sustainability (conscience, commitment and coherence).
Among the initiatives we can highlight the use of 100% renewable energy, the donation of food, the use 0-km gastronomy products, the use of the circular economy in waste management or the sustainable forest care in the surroundings of the Circuit.
This sustainability strategy is aligned with the new FIM roadmap for 2021-2025, focused on people, sustainable events, climate and public awareness, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
