Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya continues to show its commitment to sustainable development. On the occasion of the FORMULA 1 ARAMCO GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2021, the Barcelona racetrack has undergone an audit with a favourable result in the ISO 20121: 2013 standard, which certifies the management of sustainable events.
This means that the Catalan facilities comply with the criteria of this standard. To assess it, the set of actions that the Circuit has carried out during the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix were taken into account. In fact, many of these initiatives are not only implemented during this week, but they have continuity throughout the year.
The FORMULA 1 ARAMCO GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2021 has been organised with a sustainable management, with a special emphasize made on the use of energy from 100% renewable sources, the use of Km0 gastronomic products, the provision of water dispensing machines to eliminate plastic, the donation of food surpluses to a social cause, the use of circular economy with the tyres, waste recycling, sustainable forestry in the Circuit environment, social integration, and the setting-up of a stand to disseminate all of these action in the paddock, amongst other actions.
The Circuit, with its mission of “Driving for a better future”, is committed to the 3C management philosophy for sustainability (conscience, commitment and coherence), not only from the environmental perspective, but also integrating the social and economic components, within this large range of actions. Thus, the Circuit is also contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), involving all of the stakeholders in this process.
