The European Le Mans Series will take place this weekend at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. For the occasion, the legendary endurance event has formalised the participation of a total of 41 entered teams. These squads, moreover, total up to 121 riders. The grid will be impressive not only for its quantity, but also for its quality and, especially, for its great internationalisation, with more than 20 countries present.
All of them will have to face the 4H of Barcelona, the highlight of the event. In the same race, the LMP2, LMP3 and LMGTE categories will compete against each other, as usual. The first two are reserved for endurance prototypes and the last one for GTs. Despite the differences between these divisions and the cars they race, the quality of the drivers is something they have in common.
Among the LMP2s are drivers such as Yifei Ye, the Japanese driver who was part of the winning team in the 2021 4H of Barcelona and last season. On the other hand, the event will feature well-known faces in endurance racing such as Paul Lafargue and Memo Rojas, both of whom are crowned winners, along with other young talents from the single-seater world such as Lorenzo Colombo, Bent Viscaal, Jack Aitken, Pietro Fittipaldi and Alexander Peroni, among others. Other notable teams include United Autosports and Panis Racing.
In LMP3, teams such as United Autosports, Cool Racing and Nielsen Racing will be back. In this category, there is also a home entrant. The Catalan Xavier Lloveras will face the challenge with Eurointernational, driving a Ligier JS P320-Nissan together with Glenn Van Berlo and Freddie Hunt. Lloveras will not only be racing in his home race, but he is also competing in the season and is currently in 12th position.
Among the GTs there are also some notable entries. On the one hand, there is Michael Fassbender, the renowned actor who has participated in such prestigious sagas as X-Men. On the other hand, local driver Miguel Molina will take part in his home race as the reigning champion of the category with the JMW Motorsport team. Also at the wheel of a Ferrari, the Iron Lynx squad has an all-female entry with Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting and Doriane Pin, known as the Iron Dames.
The best sporting programme
In addition to the interesting programme that the prestigious endurance championship offers, with its usual prototypes and GTs, the event will also feature other championships. Mitjet France, Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux and Sprint Cup by Funyo will also be competing, with 11 races all together.
Activities and proposals
Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will have an area dedicated to fans during the whole weekend, which will host different activities and experiences, called Rookyland. There will be simulators, augmented reality experiences, a shop with official merchandising, games with prizes and rewards, a bouncy castle and a giant screen to keep an eye on the sporting activity, among others. There will also be constant entertainment to the rhythm of batucadas and even an exhibition of urban trial. In addition, with the general admission ticket, fans can participate in the Pit Walk and Grid Walk and have access to the paddock.
Tickets and discounts
The general admission ticket consists of a two-day pass (Saturday and Sunday) and costs 15 €. As usual, children up to five years old will have free access to the Circuit. The Junior rate (from 6 to 15 years old) has a 50% discount, as well as the Senior rate (for over 65 years old).
