Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will be staging the first virtual endurance race with a duration of 24 hours, the 24H SimRacing, within the framework of the 24 Horas de Barcelona de Automovilismo-Trofeo Fermí Vélez, merging the real world and the virtual world. It will be an unprecedented occasion in the world of motorsport and SimRacing, since both 24-hour races will be staged simultaneously on the same racetrack. All fans coming out to the racetrack will be able to watch the participants while competing with the simulators, which will be located in the space called Montjuïc Club.
The 24 Horas de Barcelona de Automovilismo-Trofeo Fermí Vélez include more and more attractions and proposals in order not to miss a single detail of the event. A few days ago it was announced that the endurance race would be joined by two additional series, the F4 Spanish Championship and the 7 Race Series; and now an additional and very similar race will be included, although it will be staged outside the Circuit track. The 24H SimRacing will be another huge novelty: a virtual endurance car race. Thus, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will be making another step forward in its relationship with the world of eSports, with the setting up of the Montjuïc Club area, located in the corridor of the Pisos Box, to let the best national and international teams of this virtual motorsport discipline compete live at the same racetrack in which the participants of the mythical endurance car race will be lapping, something that had never happened before on any other racetrack.
The 24H SimRacing will have a total of 15 teams, each of them made-up of three drivers. The intention is to provide them with a chance to experience similar feelings to those of the drivers competing on the racetrack of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, as the real environmental and meteorological conditions will be applied to the virtual race as well.
The entry for this event will be free, and the Montjuïc Club area will be open to all attendants wishing to watch first hand and live how a competition like this is staged. On Saturday 8 September, at noon the race will be officially started, at the same time as the 24 Horas de Barcelona de Automovilismo-Trofeo Fermí Vélez, and the participants will be making their driver changes at the simulators, just as those on the track, along the 24-hour race.
All those attending will be also able to enjoy the experience to the top and feel like true race drivers with the simulator, challenging and demanding each other in order to clock the best possible times. There also will also be a catering service, a DJ and a chill-out area, in which to spend a good time.
All those not being able to come out to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to witness it, or who decide to follow the car race from any of the grandstands, will be able to stay updated about the 24H SimRacing, as there will be live streaming.
