The promoter of the 24 Hours of Barcelona-Trofeo Fermí Vélez (4, 5 and 6 September) has announced this afternoon the cancellation of the event at the Circuit due to the restrictive travel measures affecting the international teams and the consequent low number of entries. However, the Circuit will continue to offer an endurance weekend with the 24H SimRacing event, the virtual race that was staged in recent years together with the on-track 24 Hours.
The situation of uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic together with the hindrances caused by it, has led to the cancellation of the traditional endurance race, which would have been staged for the 22nd time this year. Both the Barcelona racetrack and the event promoter, Creventic, are looking forward to stage this magical race again in 2021.
The 24H SimRacing will be playing the leading role during the weekend from 4 to 6 September, although this time, they will be raced 100% on-line and without the presence of participants at the Circuit. Teams, drivers and managers will be putting themselves to the test once again, simulating real race conditions, and the Circuit will be pioneering again as regards innovative and virtual races.
The third edition of the virtual race will include a great novelty, an English broadcast, thus making one more step towards the internationalization of the 24H SimRacing. As usual, fans will be able to follow the race in Catalan and Spanish as well, and also through the Esport3 website.
